vorbasse market

This is the young
man the artist Gitte Villesen from Copenhagen would very much like
to get in contact with in order to continue their collaboration
on a video production. Video talent from Vorbasse Market wanted
by artist.
by Vibeke Kruse
In the summer of
1994 artist Gitte Villesen from Copenhagen went to visit various
Danish market places to shoot some videos for an exhibition at a
gallery in Oslo. By far the best shootings were at Vorbasse Horse
Fair and Market. Especially Saturday evening as she walked around
the market and met a young man who began to talk with her, looking
directly at the camera. For about 10 minutes he tried to persuade
Gitte Villesen to put down the camera and go and have a beer with
him. Good feedback In spite of impressive persuasive powers, the
young mans project didnt succeed. On the other hand, he made
such a good subject for the video that Gitte Villesen is now looking
for him for a collaboration on of a video production. The video
from the market place has received extremely good feedback at exhibitions
in Copenhagen, Cologne, Stockholm and Malmø and can at the
moment be seen at Kunstbygningen (The Art Building) in Tistrup.
Gitte Villesen is planning on continuing the video, that is if she
is able to find the young man, who performed so well in front of
the camera, delivering a formidable show. Gitte Villesen, whos
the daughter of the artist Ingrid Kathrine Villesen from Billund,
has also made an exhibition with Willy Bøtker, a car enthusiast
from Billund and Helge Lund, an employee at the Art Academy in Copenhagen
where Gitte is currently a student. Good at acting At the
moment Im working on an exhibition for Galleri Nicolai Wallner
in Copenhagen where I would like to work with these three people
again. They are very good at acting in front of a camera says
Gitte Villesen. But - the guy from Vorbasse Market unfortunately
disappeared in the crowd before Gitte was able to get his name,
and he doesnt know what the video recording was used for.
If it is in any way possible, I would very much like to get
in contact with him. So if anyone knows him, please contact me
says Gitte Villesen. Her adress is: Leifsgade 27, 2300 Copenhagen

(Translation of article
from Midtjysk Ugeblad (a local weekly paper) april 11. 1995) Gitte
from Billund prepares video-project From Cologne to Tistrup Billund
girl Gitte Villesen, who is now a student at the art academy in
Copenhagen, is currently preparing a new video project. She has
shown her videos in a number of European cities. - In the summer
of 94 I went to visit various market places to shoot some
videos for an exhibition in Oslo. - At Vorbasse Horsefair and Market
I got by far the best shots, as I walked around the market on Saturday
evening a young guy came over and started talking to me through
the camera. He tried to persuade me to put down the camera and come
and have a beer with him. - The video has received an amazing feedback.
Apart form the Norwegian gallery it has been shown at two exhibitions
in Copenhagen and at art fairs in Cologne, Gent, Malmø and
Stockholm. It has also been shown at Kunstbygningen (The Art Building)
in Tistrup, says Gitte Villesen. Exhibition with the Car Fanatic
- Earlier on Id done an exhibiton with, among others, the
car fanatic from Billund, Willy Bøtker, and with a janitor
at the art academy. Now its my intention to look up the guy
from Vorbasse as well as Willy Bøtker and the janitor again,
if of course they are interested in participating in an exhibiton
with the three of them as a subjects. - Im in contact with
Willy and the janitor, but the guy from Vorbasse disappeared in
the crowd. All I know is that he must be from the area, as he spoke
in a dialect similar to my own. - If he wants to participate in
the video-project he is very welcome to contact me, says Gitte Villesen
who lives at Leifsgade 27, Copenhagen S. Midtjysk Ugeblad (a local
