Helge
by Gitte Villesen
This work consists
of a soundtrack on a walkman, and a sign which reads: Helge
Lund, born 1932, employed by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts
as a janitor for 15 years. The sound track is an interview
with a janitor at the Academy. All my questions and comments have
been erased, though in so rough a manner that you are always aware
of the presence of another person in the room while Helge is talking.
Helge speaks with a strong Jutland accent, which is peculiar in
that he has lived in Copenhagen for so long (hes adjusted
his language enough so that people from outside his region can understand
him). He speaks mainly of his job, his flat, his home town Lemvig,
and his daughter.
